What is wrong with me??????

These are the fabrics I went to pick up. They are going to be used in a new client's bedroom.
I'm working on the design now and I hope to have it finished up by the end of the week to show you.  Aren't they pretty together?

Technically I didn't buy the fabric on the right, my friend did and it is the leftover from this project.  

I did buy the striped fabric on the left.  Love the natural colors and I'm such a sucker for stripes.  

I can't seem to get enough of blue and I'm crazy about this design.

I have absolutely no idea where I am going to use this, but once again, 

I'm a sucker for stripes and I love the colors.  

I had planned on sharing this good deal with you on Monday, but I thought I would wait until it was photo worthy.  This is where the "Gone Bad" part comes in.  I'll go ahead and show you a sneak peak and then I'll break the bad news. 

 I picked up the mirror today and carried it up to our bedroom (by myself).  It was REALLY heavy.
As I picked it up to set in inside the door frame, I noticed that it was a tad too wide to fit inside the opening.  DANG!!!  Here comes the "Gone Bad" part..... As I was lifting it up to set it down, I dropped the REALLY heavy mirror on my toe!!  Worse pain I ever had felt in my life, and I've had three children. Long story, getting longer, I almost sliced the end of my big toe off.  I'll spare you the pictures.  My husband had to come home from work to rescue me and fortunately, my next door neighbor is a nurse, so she also came to my rescue.

You'll be happy to know that I am going to live and keep my entire toe.  You'll be even happier to know that once the mirror gets another little trim, it will fit perfectly.  You'll be happiest to know that my husband it going to take it from here.  No more handling heavy mirrors for me. And lastly, I'm happiest to know that tomorrow I'll be on my way to a secluded lake eight hours from here to spend a long weekend with five amazing friends.  Looks like I'll have to dull the pain with a little, you guessed it, wine!  Don't fret, the fabulous Shelley, from Crazy Wonderful will be guest posting for me on Friday.

I lucked into this rug over the weekend. 

It is the perfect punch of color for this space 

and it flows nicely with the colors in the living room and kitchen. 

It is from William Sonoma Home, but it no longer available.  

I purchased it from a friend of mine. 

She bought it with the intention of using it in her bedroom. 

It didn't quite work out, so she was looking to get rid of it.  I kindly took it off her hands.  

This Dash and Albert rug was my original choice, but the colors just weren't quite right.

The rug was one of my Wine and Dime purchases.  So thankful to have friends with good taste.

Hope you all have a fantastic Labor Day Weekend.  I'm looking forward to spending time with friends and family, saying goodbye to this hot Summer and welcoming my favorite season, Fall. 

My friend has amazing style and she took great care in making sure 

everything was displayed beautifully. Everyone that wanted to participate, 

dropped off their items at her house earlier in the week.  

She set everything up and gave each person selling items an envelope.  

Most things were priced and tagged with names. 

If you bought something, you simply put the money in the correct envelope. 

Sounds simple, but my sweet friend was running around most of the night playing cashier. 

She was such a gracious host. 

This was the second "Wine and Dime" and it was a huge success.  

Anything leftover after the sale was donated to a charity.  

Kudos to my friend for hosting such a great event.  It was major work for her.

Once we were all finished buying, selling and swapping, 

we took the party outside on the patio and it gets a bit fuzzy from there.  

Just kidding (kind of), but I did manage to learn to hula hoop while drinking wine.

By the way, I came home with this cute jacket, scarf and shirt.  The shirt still had the tags on it.  

I traded one of my girlfriends a bookshelf for the jacket and shirt.  

I also managed to snag an amazing rug.  

I'll show you soon. 

I can't wait until next year's Wine and Dime!

A few years ago, I would have never thought of mixing wood tones.
If my dining room table was dark wood, I would have wanted every other piece
in the dining room to be dark wood.  Not anymore!
Now, I love the look of mixed wood tones.  Funny how your taste evolves.

One more time, here are the chairs we were previously using.

And now...

These are the current curtains in my family room.  Another $4/yard find.  

I still like them, but lately I've been longing for something a little lighter in this room.  

I will keep these curtains and maybe use them in the Fall/Winter and use 

the Latika ones in the Spring/Summer. 

I am going to have the Lakita curtains done with a pinch pleat for a more tailored look.  

Can't wait to hang them up.  

I also found this on etsy.  Makes a pretty pillow, doesn't it?  Since I have 7 yards, I think I'll save a little for a pillow.  Don't want to overdo it, but I think one small pillow will look great.  

This is mantle in its sad depressing state before the vibrant piece of art took over.  

It is an original piece of art which is exactly what I was looking for.  

I even love the rustic frame it came in and if you look closely, 

you can see two tiny crosses on the left side of the painting. 

It helps tie all the warm and cool colors in the room together.  

I am particularly fond of this one.

And this one (I love the idea of adding a piece of abstract art to my fairly traditional living room).

My first selection was these three butterfly prints.  I had 8x10 close-up pictures of my three children here previously.  When I bought the frames, I wasn't quite sure what I wanted to put in them, but I loved the size and shape of them and knew they would work well on this big wall.  

Here's a picture of the dining room all cleaned up (before I switched out the pictures). 

I love the colors in the butterfly prints. Color is exactly what this wall needed.  

One more look.....

Okay, now here's a look at some of the more pricey items that I absolutely loved. 

I loved this vintage beverage cart.  

Most items in the store were new, but there were a few really cool vintage things mixed in. 

This industrial metal wall cabinet was calling my name.  

I love this mirror, but it was waaaaaaaay too expensive.  

I think I could find one at Homegoods and spray paint it glossy white for a similar look. 

This pillow would be perfect in my daughter's new room.  

However, I already confessed that I change my mind way too often to buy expensive pillows.  

I have a thing for stools and I've been sternly warned,politely asked not to bring anymore stools home. 

There are currently nine in our garage (waiting for a makeover).  Who needs some barstools?  

I desperately want to replace the light in my boys' room and this one would be perfect. 

It was 40% off $595, still too much for me.  

I've got my eye on one very similar to this one without the high price tag.

I was loving this whole botanical scene.  The blue vase, the greenery and the fabric, love it all!

Last, but not least, this beautiful curved cabinet (with a blue interior).  The shape was amazing.

It was a great day, and I got to spend time with my little girl and two good friends.  

Can't ask for much more than that.
