Some things just catch your eye and make your mind wander to wonderful places.  I was wandering through my favorite blogs yesterday and came across something from Tine K Home and fell into their site... I love their product images... so dreamy! So greige...

Lately I have felt a little overwhelmed by all of the trends and what is going on in design.  These types of things reign me in and help me to remember what I love so much simple, rustic, mixes filled with beautiful texture.

I need to use more of mine. Some are worn down to little nubs and others haven't been touched. I'm talking about the small box too. Forget the big one!

I am feeling a lot better today.   Barely got that post off before the flu hit me..
So much to do... so little time..  I will be searching for inspiration for a bunch of new projects that I am starting for the first part of the year today.  Please forgive me if I am slow to answer emails and get back to messages...  I working on catching up too....

No words could possibly express how much I love this image. Those steps would be hard for an able-bodied person with no railing and a millstone riser. I'm happy this lady has her son to help her. I see she mixes her clothing patterns too...just like my mom. via

New Cottage Style Home

It's refreshing to see that people are building new cottages. Is it possible that sensibility is back? This shingle style Dutch Colonial was designed by Ron Brenner Architects.

If You Love Diane Keaton, Read Her Book

I can't decide which would be better, reading her book or having Diane Keaton read it to me on an audio book! I found a great review of 'Then Again by Diane Keaton' at The New York Times. This biography had me at the dust jacket. I love her and blog about her often.

Birdbath Reflection

I didn't have any time today to play with my camera. I got my haircut before lunch and when I got home there was a message that my worker would be dropped off to trim weeds with a metal blade. I was glad but not really prepared to work outside until late afternoon. My chin-length bob and I changed into work clothes and bit the bullet. I was excited about cleaning out the area with my trench for the rain water. We worked from 1:00-4:15 without stopping. I was in charge of the rake. It looks so good and I am glad I worked along with the hired hand. I think you always get a better job if you work as hard as they do. And I firmly believe they worker harder if they see you aren't afraid to get your hands dirty.
I took the iPhone photo of the birdbath yesterday. Tomorrow I'll pick up my trail of leaves after I take a picture to show you. Have a great weekend.

IMPRESSIVE

My very first, very talented client recently sent me these pictures.  She made this fabulous slipcover herself.  She made is from a drop cloth and believe it or not, it only took her 1.5 hours to make. 
She has four side chairs and two arm chairs.  I stopped by yesterday to check it out in person and she already had another side chair and one arm chair almost completed.  I was impressed, to say the least!
I hope she's ready to sew some more, because I warned her I will be sending customers her way.

Speaking of impressive DIY projects, you must hop on over to Evolution of Style and check out the project Jenny is tacking in her kitchen.  This girl certainly is not afraid of a challenge.

One more DIY project I was completely impressed with recently is this creative and inspiriting idea from Courtney, at A Thoughtful Place.   She wrote the lyrics from her wedding song on a wall in her home.  Brilliant!



I always told my children when they were toddlers not to write on the wall, but I am dying to try this at my house.  There is a wall on our second floor landing that just might be the perfect spot.  I am thinking a prayer or perhaps a lovely poem about them growing up would be fitting. 
Great, something else for my "To Do List".
