Hibiscus moscheutos
One of the last shrubs to leaf out in spring, they make up for it by blooming right up until frost.
Native to marsh areas of North America, they sometimes go by the common name mallow, and are close relatives of the ‘Rose of Sharon’ shrub, Hibiscus syriacus. They are of the Malvaceae family that includes hollyhocks and malva.
In our garden this beautiful hardy hibiscus features very large red flowers.

Es ist eine winterharte, mehrjährige krautige Pflanze.
Bei der Unterfamilie Malvoideae sind die vielen Staubblätter und der Stempel zu einer Röhre verwachsen, dem sogenannten Androgynophor.
Hibiscus moscheutos hat auffällige tellergroße Blüten, die nur einen Tag lang blühen.
Sie sind weiß oder rot & rosa, teilweise zart dunkelrosa überhaucht, in der Mitte um den Stempel hellrosa bis dunkelkarmin schattiert.
