My Long Hot Summer!

September is almost here, the month of my birth.
So maybe September is the start of my new year.
Looking back, this has been a fun summer really - certainly full even if a little too much at times.

The Journal shown below, was started in January 2009.
It has been written not as a diary as such but more for fun with doodles and the odd moan!
Bit like this blog!

Today I just wanted to look back at this summer and remember all the good bits.

Remember Simone wrote about the strange sighting!
I am sure it was one of these....maybe not my exact one but I must say that Simone spotted it not too long after we had sent ours up!
Chinese Lanterns
We have camped many times this year.
but this camp was special.
It was for my Dad, who needed a little break.

My nephew Mark and my Hubby lit the Lantern and sent it on its way.
Camps with campfires are brilliant.
Twelve of my family were at this camp weekend.
The more the merrier and that it was.
Untidy camp it was.
But good food, music and the very relaxed atmosphere and owners of this site,
made it the best choice for a larger family gathering.
Children played happily by the dried-up stream with swing ropes and mud!
After a quick showering down with the 'outside' caravan shower, very handy for dirty dogs and boys.
Freddie and Jude were put in a safe clean place to play for a while.

Afternoon nap turned into a two hour long siesta!

Monday morning and I was back home.
Back to the grind.
My little men play happily while I clear away those piles again!

If I am lucky I get to play too.
With my new sewing box.

This is Stanley, not quite finished yet as you can see.
I do have a lots of these unfinished projects in my box!
Lazy Sundays walking through Greenwich Park with Hub.

The three good little boys.

And two naughty little boys.
If you look closely you can see Mr N ducking as something had just hit him on the head!

Then at last We get to have time and space on our own.
Remember Norway.
Still, quiet and so beautiful.

Briksdalsbreen Glacier

Here we are.

Our little troupe rowed all the way through icy waters to see the glacier.
And below the little huts for the young girls who looked after the mountain sheep.
Apparently a place the young men of the villages visited quite often, at night!

The Ships Crew

Well I had to put this one in for the girls amongst us who like a man in uniform.

I think this is Olden, I am not too sure.

This is why I should write a log for my images!

The very quiet little back streets of Olden.

So pretty.

Pretty pots and curious looking cats.

This one had a very fancy hairdo.

It may have been called a Lion cut!

Just before bedtime, a stroll along the Promenade Deck.

And on our return form Norway a quick punt down to North Devon in Nigella.

Sand or shingle, flat or rugged.

You can have your pick.

Summer trips to London.

The Borough Market

Katie, Paul and my hubby.

The reason for this trip was a River Boat Ride, lunch included.

This is the only image I have of the boat, not a great one.

It was interesting this trip.

To see the wonderful architecture along the river and hear a little bit about the history while your tucking into your lunch was fun.

Shellmex House, which sadly is now sold along with quite a few buildings in the Strand.
This was one of the two Shell buildings in London where I have worked.
Leaving the boat, we had a lovely walk through the park on the Embankment to Covent Garden.

Is this man a poser?

Vintage shops

Just feast your eyes on all these net skirts!

Paul was dying for Katie to say buy that hat!

But she didn't!

So we carried on around this fascinating shop and bought nothing at all.

To my sheer delight we spotted this man.

Helping out and not Behaving Badly!

What a tall slim gorgeous hunk he is too!

That Neil Morrissey

These two aren't bad either!

But when little cherubs sit quiet and relaxed on my cosy chair.

And drift off into the land of nod.

I sigh, this is what makes my days special.

I hope you enjoyed our little trip down memory lane.

It was a little tonic for me!

Hope to get to see you all soon.

'My' time has been is in short supply of late.

Indeed as I sit to do this post I am being nagged at.

I want one of those Jan Constantine Cuhions.....

the one about just carrying on or something.

Bye all.

Carol
