Writing Desk

A Little Bit

of

This and That

please excuse the cords!

I have wanted to update this writing desk in our living room. It held our household computer  for a while, but now I hope to fill it with family photos and to make it a place to sit to write or to read.

This desk was purchased at an auction  - we liked the decorative elements and lines. I wasn’t too keen on the finish and knew one day I would make a change.

The first thing I wanted to do was to marbleize the top. I have done this before and shared a step-by-step here.

I painted the body of the desk with ASCP Provencal Blue. I liked the color without the stain, but knew it was not right with the rest of the furniture in the room. I applied a coat of stain, but it wasn’t enough.

I applied another coat and received positive feedback from my husband, who was watching and talking to me as I painted last night.
The pictures don't capture the translucent affect of the blue
beneath the stain.

The drawers were fun. I found this scrapbook paper at Hobby Lobby and loved the idea of putting aged sheet music on the fronts of the drawers. Our family is very musical and this seemed quite appropriate.

I did not change the hardware, I like the patina.

I look forward to us using this desk in a very different way now and to decorating it differently, from time to time.

Thank you so much for your visit.
I will be sharing this post with these Delightsome
