This morning I visited a blog - Mariliz' Musings - she shared that
she discovered something wonderful in Google Reader.
Terrific, I thought. I want to be a better follower and
I have a habit of checking emails - reply back, and or view that person's blog - kind of a repaying a visit call.
I also check the A Return to Loveliness party - I so appreciate those
who link in - and want to visit and give a 'Thank You' note.
I would sometimes use my dashboard to view new posts - but, that was time consuming.
I like Google Reader - but it doesn't allow you to pause and to leave comments - we all love to know when someone has paid us a call.
Then, Voila! Google Reader creates this cool widget tool.
The NEXT button.
It becomes part of your toolbar - you actually visit each blogger's site -soooo much better than the glance version of Google Reader.
Well, I ran into a wee roadblock - I have an older Mac - use Safari
and for the life of me couldn't get the NEXT button onto my toolbar.
I found a site where I could add to my toolbar to add widgets/gadgets galore - Now! I have my NEXT button and it is fantastic - I am strolling along blog to blog visiting - I may become a commenting fool now!
So how do you do this?!
First go to your Google Reader page - full view
On the right-hand side of the screen you'll see a cog symbol.
Click on this
You'll get a drop-down menu - click on Reader Settings
On the Google Reader Settings Menu Bar click on
Goodies
Scroll down until you see this section of the page. Click and Drag
the NEXT button icon onto your toolbar.
There it is - on my newly adjusted toolbar. If you have an older
Mac version like me - you can go here to install this cute toolbar.
Now, you can browse your blogs you follow - read - leave a comment and then hit NEXT! You'll go to the actual blog address! How cool is that! So much work is put into these blogs and these posts - they deserve to be viewed!
