Want something attractive to collect all those scraps you're going to compost? The compost pails from RSVP - in stoneware, bamboo, and stainless steel - are the ones you'll see all over. If they don't appeal, there are certainly other options.
One you don't see as often is this glazed ceramic countertop compost crock, made in the USA by The Homer Laughlin China Company. There's a green version, too. Update on August 18, 2011: I'm no longer finding this product.
And if you'd like to support an individual artisan, you could get a compost crock, in one of 29 colors, from Architectural Ceramic Design in California. There's also another version with a handle.
